戴阳天来新发展之前，2007年因拍摄韩中合资的电视剧《劲舞世界》，和韩国歌手演员裴涩琪合作而被韩方相中，推荐他参加韩国SM Entertainment的召星面试，戴阳天差点成为韩国超人气组合Super Junior的同门师弟！
SM Entertainment是韩国娱乐圈顶尖的经纪公司，也是数一数二的“造星厂”，当红的韩国偶像东方神起、Super Junior和少女时代、SHINee都出自该公司栽培。
难得声势这么庞大的公司向他招手，戴阳天却因“当时在比赛，没时间”，劳驾韩方亲自到上海面试他。
笑他“大牌，吊起来卖”，戴阳天抗议解释：“他们其实是来探查业务，才顺便来面试一个我。”
韩方尽显诚意，戴阳天透露，他与该公司见面后，获邀参与第二轮面试，对方表明，他的培训包括到韩国训练一年及修读韩语。
可惜，戴阳天最后却放弃这个千载难逢的机会。他说，是因为自己“从一而终”的传统思想。
“也不是因为第二轮面试的结果会是未知数，因为只要是机会我都想把握。但，当时我和新传媒已经到了签约阶段，可能是我的想法比较传统，既然已和新传媒接触，就想有始有终。”
放着韩国更大的市场不闯，戴阳天不觉得可惜。他认为，就算成为超级偶像的师弟也不能保证自己一定闯得出名堂，所以到今天，他都坚信来新发展的决定是对的。

Today，I re-read everyone's letters and suddenly found one regarding Paul Chan's blog's comments. I hope all of you won't just focus on the good news & not tell me the bad ones because all news come from all of you. If all of you don't tell me, I won't know. To me, be it good or bad news are all 'good' news to me. When there is scolding from people, that shows they are concerned about me, then all of you must tell me & I can change for the better. After I make all the necessary correction then that will prove all of your foresight/vision about me is correct. If the comments are in English, could all of you please help to translate them. Many a time, I don't even know that I've made a mistake.
Additionally, I'd like to apologize for Sunday night. After the programme, I took a lift home from a friend. I wasn't certain whether she/he was in a hurry to go home, I didn't request that she/he stop her/his car (to meet all of you).

终于要回家了好久好久没见我的家人了，也不知道上海变的怎样了。回来又要紧锣密鼓的为新戏上课和做些娘惹东南亚的宣传，通告还是很赶希望还有机会可以见到大家，你们就别来送机了，很远你们安心工作的工作上学的上学，到了上海我会象你们“报告”的。

I was shocked by the number of people who were present yesterday. Thank you for keeping me company till so late in the night. I just had my cello class. In my new show, I'll be a musician & I'm pretty excited about it.
Finally returning home. Haven't seen my family members for a very, very long time. I don't know how Shanghai has been transformed. Once coming back to Singapore, I'll be very busy taking up lessons for my new drama & also to do some Southeast-Asian promotion for 'The Little Nyonya'. I hope I'll be able to see everyone (in Shanghai).
